Soroptimist International of Vista is an organization whose mission is to improve the lives of women and girls. Our SIV Charitable Foundation is an offshoot of the club, and was founded pursuant to a testamentary gift. The Foundation Board is specifically organized and delegated with the task of finding and awarding scholarships for women in the specific areas of English or the medical professions. In the past we have awarded scholarships to young women in nursing, pharmacy, English and related majors.
Early in 2016, we plan to award two scholarships of $5,000 each, depending on the need and qualifications of the individual women. The Candidates must be in the junior or senior year of college, entering or attending a graduate program. The other requirements are listed on the enclosed application. We intend to make the awards to San Diego County individuals and it is sent directly to the student’s school for tuition and related expenses.
The deadline for receiving the scholarship application is December 1, 2015. Click here for the application, which must be printed, filled out and returned by mail.
